SPECIAL delivery!

BABY ETHAN HAS ARRIVED!!!!

Although my c-section was planned for today, Baby Ethan wanted to meet us early on Tuesday morning. My water broke just before 2am and we were off to the hospital.  My life changed FOREVER in less than four hours later. Ethan was born at 547am and totally captured our hearts from the second that we laid our eyes onto the promise that we've waited for.  Believe me when I say, he is PERFECT in every way.

I think I need another heart to contain the love I feel for him. Until I get another heart, the one that I have seems to be expanding nicely. Not only did I fall in love with Ethan, I fell MORE in love with my husband, which I didn't think was possible.  Seeing Chris love on Ethan did something to me that I can't fully explain.  Seening him BE a Daddy is just "right".  Chris melts like butter every time Ethan is in his arms.  I am so proud of my boys & I love them more than words could describe.

When I have time, I'll write the birth story.  We have been OVERWHELMED with love from family, friends, and complete strangers. Ethans life serves are more than just a blessing to us. His existance has touched more lives and emcouraged more people that we will ever meet.  We had hospital workers who remembered us from our prior visits come into our room just to celebrate & cry with  us.

Totally in love!!!!

37 weeks and looking forward to the finish line

I can hardly believe that we have made it to this point. Thank you God! We’re full term and Ethan could arrive at anytime and be perfectly fine. At our last ultrasound on Thursday he weighed 6lbs 3oz but refused to show us his lil face. I wonder how much he will weight at birth and who he will look like.

I have a feeling that he’s coming really soon. I lost my mucus plug last night & started contracting a few hours later. The contractions were irregular & stopped on their own. We are prepared for his arrival & our bags are packed.
I hope that he’s a good sleeper. I have played musical chairs/beds for the past week. No one told me that at this stage in the game that ALLLLLL of my girl parts would hurt! OUCH! Kinda feels like someone attached 20 pound weights to each of my butt cheeks!....Seriously, I’m dragging a load! :0) lol This however, is not a complaint…just the facts!I just LOVE my sleep!

We’re looking forward to Ethan’s blessed arrival any day now. Thank you all for your love, prayers, & support!

The Golden Hour

Have  any of you heard of this concept?  Chris & I  plan to do this and spend the first hour alone with Ethan for bonding before he meets the world.

The Golden Hour

The first hour after your baby’s birth, or the golden hour, is ideally reserved for you, your partner and your baby to get to know each other. Friends and other family members do not participate in this special hour unless you invite them to do so.

The Golden Hour is important because:

•During the first hour of life, a healthy baby shows a high level of alertness and an ability to interact with its parents.

•An infant recognizes his/her parents’ voices and smells.

•This is the ideal time for the baby to be introduced to the parents through snuggling and breastfeeding.

•This period of time, also known as “familiarization,” calms the baby after birth and enhances the bonding (attachment) of parents with their baby. The medical and nursing staff will help you in this special time together.

Shower #3

My department co-workers hosted our 3rd baby shower on 8.19.10. I can honestly say that God has truly blessed us in more ways than we ever imagined. Ethan’s nursery is fully stocked, thanks to the kindness & generosity of our friends & family. Many of my co-workers stayed after work to help shower Baby Ethan with well wishes, love, and gifts!

Here’s a few pics

Shower # 2

My dear friends, Tanya, Nicole & Starlese hosted our 2nd shower on 8.14.10. They thought of everything, most importantly our daughters~ Our cake had 3 angels, one for each of the girls. It was such a touching, heart-warming gesture to celebrate Ethan and honor his sisters. This was a co-ed shower, so the men had to participate. We had some GREAT laughs at the guys but they good sports!

Thank God for Good friends & good times!

Shower #1

On July 10th, we were showered with lots of love and gifts for Ethan. Our Mothers & my sisters took great care to ensure that this shower was perfect…and it was. Our family & friends blessed us tremendously.

Here’s a few pics ( sorry for the quality..I had to scan these in)

24 days & counting

I’m counting down… only 24 days until our arms are filled with what is in our hearts! 3 ½ weeks. WHERE DID THE TIME GO?

I am nesting and borderline OCD. I’m self diagnosing right now. I got OUT of the bed at 1am to clean ceiling fans. I tried to get into the shower last week but had to spray everything ( toilet, sinks, counters) down before I got into the shower. My bathroom had a complete overhaul at 1130pm on a work night. I came in from work last week and immediately started cleaning out my wardrobe and drawers. WHAT A DAUNTING TASK. Sunday night, I cleaned out the closet in the nursery ( which we’ve used as a guest room & my other closet) with the intent of making room for Ethan’s clothes! MISSION: FAIL! After 2 hours of working I only have ONE bag of clothes to go to goodwill. We will move all of the clothes to the other guest room so that Ethan’s clothes can get out of the crib & into the closet.

His clothes are washed & his bag is packed. I am almost scared to get everything completely ready because I feel like that is when he’ll come!

We have a baby shower this weekend, hosted my dear friends Nicole, Tanya, Monica, & Star. It’s gonna be great & I’m so excited. I do have the pics from our shower last month, I’m just too lazy to scan & upload them. Who knew that technology would spoil us so! The photographer PRINTED over 300 pics….HELLO, where’s the CD? :0)
